Merry Figgy Christmas
Get some figgy in your pudding. Merry Christmas. Seasons Greetings. Tidings of joy. Happy boxing day. Merry new years eve eve eve eve. Eve? Tis the season to be jolly!
Anyone else eaten too much every day for the last week? Wholesome indulgent fun. I tried educating myself on the history of Christmas (eg. Coca-Cola didn't create the modern image of Santa, it was editorial cartoonist Thomas Nast) but the article? TLDR. 4LA FTW!
I enjoy knowing where artists draw their inspiration (and samples) from. I enjoy it when artists their own interpretation of another artist's music.
For example, covers and parodies;Pastime Paradise → Gangsters Paradise → Amish ParadiseOr samples;Cola Bottle Baby → Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger → StrongerNotables that often come up in conversation (radio, mix tapes, parties) are Tainted Love (Gloria Jones → Soft Cell → Marilyn Manson), Superstition → Karma, I Wish → Wild Wild West, Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson → Alien Ant Farm). Stevie Wonder songs seem popular, maybe I'm simply more familiar with the originals of these tunes. You got any favourite covers/samples/remakes? unbenownst to the greater population ;) Oh, and check out this pic. Took me a second to work out what it was of, but once I did I loved it. (larger version, img by José Emroca)
